Strider Hiryu the Top of the Strider Program
and
Joe Musashi the Super Shinobi of the Oboro Clan

Both of these Assasins are some of the most feared Ninja's but between the both of them who will come out on top

Lets find out

Before We Begin 

Usually I take only Canon stuff however for future blogs I will be using Soft composite versions of the Characters so with this being said both Hiryu and Joe will be getting everything they have (except Crossovers so no Outerversal Hiryu or Sonic Level Joe)

Lets Begin

Strider Hiryu



Little is known about Hiryu's past when he was young he joined the Strider Programm alongside his Sister Maria. Hiryu was a prodegy climbing the ranks in no time becoming an Special A-Rank Strider however fate would strike and one day his sister would go rogue and kill 10 Strider Trainees with the head of the programm sending Hiryu to eliminate Maria and whilst trying to talk some sense into her Hiryu would kill his own sister in self defense after this incident Strider would hit rock bottom going blindly into battle and missions hopping to perish in them however during one mission after an attack the necklace given to him by his sister saved him which made him realize that this isn't what his sister would want from for him to die mindlessly in battle so after finishing the mission he would leave the programm to live a peacefull live.


However all good things come to an end as Strider would be called back into action by matic a vice-director for the Striders wanting him to take out Kain a close ally of hiryu who has become a nuisance to the programm hiryu innitially declined however after Matic threatend to kill the entire village which left him with no choice.


upon finding kain they would fight till Hiryu would find a chip controlling him which he figures to be the reason of Kain's strange behaviour and connected the ties that this chip was also the reason his sister went rogue upon removing the chip from Kain he vowed to put an end to whoever is behind this. Upon finding out that Matic is behind all of this and track him down to end his plan once and for all. After infiltrating his base Hiryu would have a face to face fight against Matic with Hiryu being injured badly but coming out on top and would destroy Matic's Plan and go back into retirement.


Joe Musashi

Joe Musashis was orphaned at a young age and adopted by the head of the Oboro Clan who raised him and also enrolled him into the Oboro School where Joe climbed the ranks in quick succesion becoming a master ninja in less than a decade. However during a training session with the chief they recieve news that a new evil has come and made a base in Neo city.

Oboro would send their best pupils only for them to get captured with no choice left Joe would be sent and to rescue his fellow Ninja's and defeat the people behind the evil plan.

Years later after numerous Children were kidnapped by a criminal Syndicate called Zeed. Joe was sent to defeat Zeed and rescue all the kidnapped children. Upon rescuing all the children Joe would come face to face with the Syndicates leader The Masked Ninja who upon his defeat was revealed to be Nakahara a former Oboro clan member who also trained Joe revealing he wanted to recreate the fedual era where Ninja's roles were more important as the need for them twindled upon retunrning to his home he was given the title of "The Super Shinobi". Years later wanting to go his own way from the Oboro Clan he left to master the ways of a ninja however unbeknownst to them the Zeed clan was rebuild now as Neo Zeed they would attack the Oboro Village killing everyone and kidnapping Naoko his fiance and childhood lover. Joe would come back to the whole Oboro Clan was dead and as he looked around he found his Master and was filled in before having his master perish in his hands. Upon hearing what happend he would track down the Neo Zeed and avenge the Oboro Clan and rescue Naoko.

Arsenals

Strider Hiryu



Hiryu's signature weapon the Cypher or the Falcion a sword with the handle of a Tonfa. It uses Plasma Energy to enhance its cutting ability to the point of ceramic armor not being enough with Plasma being around 40000 - 3.6 Millions degrees. Only the best of the Programm are allowed to wield such a weapon with Hiryu being a master of it. However it isn't just a basic sword it can be used like a boomerang, It has also a electrical discharge and fire plasma projectiles.

The Cypher has also Elemental and other abilities


Climb Sickle



each Strider uses a Climb Sickle to climb walls and cellings. They can also be used as hook like weapons.

Kunai and Throwing Knives



Like every Ninja Hiryu is equipped with Kunai and throwing Knives with each of them having their own abilities. These kunai's 


Wire


Hiryu carries a wire just in case used to restrain people or potentially swing across high places

Boots


Hiryu has come across these boots during his missions they grant him numerous abilities

Attack Boots: Allows Hiryu to kill enemies by sliding
Aqua Boots: These boots allow Hiryu to walk on water
Magnetic Boots: with the Magnetic Boots Hiryu can walk up metalic surfaces

Plasma Capacitors


These Plasma Capacitors allows Hiryu to launch themselves at high-speeds using Plasma.

He can also imbue himself with the mentioned Elemental atributes from the Cypher and the Kunai's allowing him to either to Burn or Freeze any enemy who he dashes through.

Glider


Striders usually enter the mission with a Glider and Hiryu's no exception

Options


Hiryu has a few mechanical pals on his side with them coming in whenever he needs them

Option A: a tiny little robot who circle around the and shoots electrical blast.
Option B: a Robo Panther who lunges at any enemy in his way, it can also be used to travel long distances
Option C: a Robot Hawk who flies around Hiryu and dives in at the enemy using his wings and claws to attack them, It also like Option B allows him to travel to other areas
Option D: Option D unlike the other options isn't a Weapon more over a supportive machine it locates energy sources for Hiryu and scout his souroundings and also detect weaknesses of enemies who aren't effected by the Cypher

Blue Dragon Headquarters


The Blue Dragon is a Space Station located on Earth's orbit used by the Striders which allows them to decode and analyze messages and send enemies into Battle. Hiryu can access it anytime as long as he has enough energy.

Tricks


Hiryu has access to alot of abilities by utilizing energy.

  • Fire: Upon choosing Fire after a swing from the Cypher allows it to fire a little fire ball
  • Medical: Heals Hiryu by 20 Health Points
  • Spark: shoots a small electrical spark which travels across the ground
  • Jump: allows Hiryu to jump higher for a short period of time
  • Warp: Teleports Hiryu to the Blue Dragon Headquarter
  • Ground: causes a small earthquake causing any enemy on the screen to die
  • Medical 2: restores Hiryu's health by 50 points
  • Spark Ball: a upgraded version of Spark shooting a larger spark
  • Medical 3: Heals Hiryu by 150 Health points

This Item allows Strider to turn Invincible for a short time and creates duplicates of himself

The Cypher Item lengthens the range of Hiryu's swings

Joe Musashi

Hazy Moon


Hazy Moon or Oboruzuki is a sword passed down by Generations Joe was given this sacred blade during his early years. It is the Oboro Clan's most sacred possesion with It being capable of deflecting gunfire with other swords being able to deflect Energy blast and elemental attacks. Its cutting ability is so potent that it can cut through hard material such as steel.

The Dark Katana


This sword was crafted by the same person who also created the Oboruzuki however this one is infused with dark energy and ancient  power causing it to deal more damage. It was shattered into ten pieces and scattered into Rifts where Joe gathered all ten pieces and rebuild it.

Kunai's and Ninja Stars


Joe uses Kunai like every other Ninja he prefers to throw 8 at once

Ninjutsus

Joe throughout all of his battles has learnt alot of Ninjuntsus these range from simple Healing Ninjutsu to creating Tornadoes as long as Joe's Rage bar is full.

Ninpos


Ninpo are similiar to Ninjutsus they are abilities that Joe can cast which range from simple Elemental attacks to creating giant weapons out of thin air which costs him a Ninpo Cell which can be recharged by attacking enemies.

Amulets


Amulets are collectibles which can aid him in battle. They fall into Combo and Passive Passive Amulets. Only 2 Amulets can be equipped at the time.

  • Piercing Kunai: causes the Kunai to pass through the enemy at the cost of using 2 Kunai's
  • Exploding Kunai: causes to explode upon coming in contact with the enemy
  • Medic: Healing is more effiecent
  • Snake Charmer: reduces the time needed to summon Great Serpent
  • Shield: If Joe is idle for a minute a force field will be made around Joe
  • Armor Breaker: causes Armor to break faster
  • Vampire: each hit with the Katana heals Joe
  • Rage Channeler: each hit fills Joe's Rage meter
  • Power Booster: Increases Damage dealt

Hiryu along with Kain were able to infiltrate Enterprise HQ without being spotted whilst disguised. Strider were said to be masters of infiltration, Assasination, Abduction, Demolition and Sedition

Despite all of his achievments Hiryu is only a Human as any normal thing could kill him such as when a simple bullet injured him badly which was also the reason of him leaving the Strider Programm. His Tricks also requires Energy if he overdoes it he can't use them his items such as Bunshin also last for a short while. In the Manga its also shown that Striders have no resistance to Mind Control and show no resistance to Tranquilizers.


Joe Musashi


Joe might be one of the feared Ninja of his time however he is hardly perfect as he states it a simply bullet will kill him and his Kunai's are also limited whilst he has a large supply of them once their gone their gone. His Ninpo's and Ninjutsu are also one time uses or limited once they are used he has to fill his Rage meter or Ninpo Cell.

The Clan which Hiryu was raised in was of course full of comrades and enemies who have shown their own sets of strengths and skills and with Hiryu being the top of the Program he should either scale to or upscale most of what the other Striders can do.

Hiryu has fought a list of adversaries from his own blood, Bounty Hunters, Military Commanders and Ballet Dancer with guns. Hiryu has defeated these guys either once or twice so he should scale to them.

Joe has faced a wide arange of enemies from his own mentor to people seeking world domination since he defeated most of these such as Nakahara, Kijima and Ruse he should scale to them quite easily.


Before the Verdict

Multiple Hiryu's




A big misconception about Strider Hiryu is that he has lived over 2000 years becuase of what Meio has said in the ending of Strider 2

However there is evidence to proof that this is not the case as in an interview the creator simply state that "The second one actually didn’t have any continuity with the first one. It takes place 1,000 years after the fact and they clone Hiryu and bring him back from the dead" This means that the Hiryu from Strider 2 is a clone with all of the original's memories however MvC Infinite implies that this is some sort of recincarnation of Hiryu or a ressurected Hiryu as he says he has "fought him for a thousand years" whilst MvC is not canon this just gives proof to the idea of him being a clone with his memories or a reincarnation.

With this also being the case I will call Hiryu from Strider 2 either Clone Hiryu or Hiryu 2 so no confusion comes up and Original Hiryu will just be Hiryu.

So Hiryu from Strider 2 isn't the same Hiryu as does this change anything scaling wise? No both Hiryu's have still fought and defeated mostly the same enemies The Kuinang, Solo and the Grandmaster himself which means they still should scale relative to each other. However the only change is that Hiryu has not used the Boost item in any game other than Strider 2 meaning that Hiryu won't have access to that Item unless the person reading doesn't agree on the whole idea of Clone/reincarnation Hiryu in which case he has the item so I'll put the item up as Debatable.

Laser BS


Lasers timing feats are always brought into question same here I will go through each Laser in these games and see if they fit the code of being lightspeed.

Shinobi Art of Vengeance

In Shinobi Art of Vengeance there are 2 lasers I will be looking at the ones from the enemies there these drones in the levels which shoot out a purple beams upon closer inspection this beam is likely a "dark attack". Dark Attacks are attacks that undodgeable and upon trying it these attack can't be dodged meaning it is a dark attack not a laser even if it is a Laser it should not qualify as one due to showing force upon getting hit.

The Second laser comes from Mandara the Boss of the Mountain Stage. This is one is clear cut its never refered as a Laser in no extra menu, manual or in-game and there aren't any other signs of it being one except it pushing Joe back upon getting hit.


Nightshade

In this we will be looking at Kurohagane a Cyborg Ninja who has used multiple Beam attacks in his boss fight first there is the beam from the sky which has no statement of being a Laser and whilst Hibana shows force when getting hit this could be her flinching as other times when she gets hit there is no force at all however due to it not showing any other sign of being a laser at best I can say it to be Debatable. Later in the Final Boss battle against Kurohagane he shown using an attack called "Light of Purity" whilst its name might imply it to be a lightspeed attack which could be the case if it didn't have the same issue as the rest it shows force which light does not have talk about pure huh.

Shinobi (2002)

In Shinobi for the PS2 there is one stage filled with Lasers which is the Nakatomi Factory. There is seemingly nothing wrong with them as they don't explode upon contact nor show any force I know shocking right? They also come out of an technological source with adds consistency to it being lasers. With this all being said we have our first legit Laser.

Ok For these I'm just gonna go through as quickly as possible

Revenge of Shinobi

Laser move straight, come out of a light source and its reffered to as a Laser in the Manual

Shinobi Legions

In the 8th Stage Sho faces a Mech which can fire a Laser its called a Laser and moves in a straight line issue when it hits the celling it shakes the celling causing rocks to fall meaning it has force. You can also make the argument that upon contact it makes these small balls which could be considered explosions however as there are nothing else implying these to be explosions and again upon contact with the floor it launches small debri flying. So no laser.

Shinobi III

In stage 3 the boss can fire a big laser however just copy and paste what I said about Mandara from earlier no statement and no proper showing of propreties of light and shows force



Hiryu isn't also safe from this however his list is way shorter with us having to go through only the NES title, Arcade Title and the most recent 2014 title.

NES Strider

These lasers don't have any statements of being lasers and they push Hiryu away once hit meaning that it shows force. Conclusion no laser.

Arcade

These lasers do have statements of being lasers they bounce off walls which aren't materials which Light/Lasers bounce off and they show explosions being caused in the PC Engine Port the explosions are gone however the bouncing off the walls is still there.also force. So no laser.

2014

The 2014 Lasers are the lasers with the most evidence of being a laser first its reffered to as a Laser Turret which already shows a consistent Laser source, They move in a straight light, They burn upon contact,they don't show any force and don't cause explosions. So pretty simple they are Lasers. 

Third Moon Destruction


In Strider 2 ending we see the Third Moons destruction and thats the last image we see before credits and Hiryu 2's fate is also left imbigous its unknown if he survived the destruction of the Third Moon or not. There is evidence pointing to both him surviving it and not.

 This Feat has both arguments going for it and against it so however due to the shaky evidence I will label this feat as Debatable

Higher End Speed Feats


as you guys I have seen in the feats/Scaling section that there are two feats sticking out Meio traveling to Earth and Lord Ruse absorbing all the souls in limbo. In the case of Ruse we see the feat happen however in Meio's case he seemingly does it of screen unless we count this as him flying to earth eitherway even if we assume nothings wrong with these feats there is this one tiny issue.

Consistency

Both feats are way past where the normal speeds feat for both verses land especially with Joe taking the feats of Joe dodging Lasers which gets to 78% Lightspeed the difference is 647 Quadrillion and taking the lower result doesn't change this its stil ten million times difference and in the case of Meio taking the highest speed feat the difference would be about 17 million times so yeah.

When it comes to stats both at first are very well matched as both have similiar feats of either destroy Tanks, Helicopters and others stuff getting them comfortably into the Building to City Block ranges. Talking numbers Hiryu is can survive a fall from space getting up to 45.51 Tons of TNT Joe at a low-end has him at nearly 2 times stronger as he should scale to Hostuma being able to tank Meteors which gets comfortably to 93.94 Tons of TNT and other feats give Joe the edge with his Ikazuchi created a Lightning which output is 2.2 Kilotons and scaling him to his Hayate this goes further reaching 39.40 kilotons. Making Joe about 865.74 times stronger.

Note: Whilst there is the feat of Hiryu destroying the Gravitron getting to 408 Tons of TNT the issue with the feat is the calc assumes he destroyed in one hit which is not the case as most bosses in the Arcade/Genesis versions take about 13 hits to kill meaning the actual result is 31.38 Tons of TNT. Even taking the 408 Tons in its still less than Hayate's Meteors low-end reaching 919 Tons of TNT

Physicaly

Physically speaking Hiryu is stronger as he is slices human limbs clean off slightly higher than Joe opening a Elevator door with his bare hands.

High-Ends

Taking the highest end for Joe makes him reach the Large Island level ranges via Sho's Mountain destruction statements getting them all the way up to 321.25 Gigatons of TNT and even the lower end beats out Hiryu's feat of surviving the destruction of Balrog coming out to 1.77 Gigatons of TNT making him 1.50 times stronger. However thats where Joe caps at whilst Hiryu goes way higher starting with the Third Moon destruction which if we assume Clone Hiryu survived reaches 529.31 Petatons of TNT making him 1647657.58 times stronger and thats seemingly not even Hiryu's highest end which if we take Meio's Black Hole's high-end which is 1.8 MegaFoe Hiryu would be 133 Octiollion times stronger.

Speed

Combat/Reaction Speed

Low-End

At first again like Strength Both Hiryu and Joe are very comporable. Hiryu can blitz Soldiers which can get to Mach 0.50 whilst Joe can dodge missiles at Mach 0.27 making Hiryu 1.85 Faster. Joe scales to Hotsuma dodging meteors reaching Mach 11.32 - 71.36 despite this Hiryu can fly and react to stuff at Mach 16.04 - 192.52 making Hiryu anywhere from 1.41 - 2.96 times faster.

High-End

Both Joe and Hiryu are casual lightning timers with Hiryu scaling to Mach 3434 through dodging lightning whilst Joe scales to Hotsuma dodging Lightning which comes out to Mach 1008 making Joe about 3 times slower. Using their light timing feats doesn't change much whilst Joe might seem faster at first as him dodging Laser comet to around 78% Lightspeed and Hiryu only reaching 55% however Hiryu can reach higher speeds as he can slice faster than Lasers which can get 9.26 times lightspeed making Hiryu 11.87 times faster than Joe.

Note: Even assuming upscaling and such wouldn't make Joe any faster as Hiryu can percieve Lasers in slow-motion getting anywhere from 554 - 2800 times Lightspeed only way Joe is faster is throught their inconsistent High-Ends which makes Joe 11475454.67 times faster.

Travel Speed

Joe scales above normal Ninja's being able to briefly outrun Horses getting to Mach 0.07 whilst Hiryu can break the sound barrier which reaches Mach 1 even assuming Joe upscales his feat to a insane ammount Hiryu was the top of the Strider Clan meaning he should be comparable to Kubira swimming from Africa to the Amzonas getting to Mach 2.17.

Whilst Joe is no slouch being able to match and surpass Hiryu in strength with their low-ends Joe falls short in speed which is a major factor in this battle. With such a speed advantage and the big difference in Strength Strider Hiryu takes Stats.

Weapons

Gadgets

Both Hiryu and Joe have very similiar gadgets Climbing gear and other stuff going off these Gadgets/Tools alone I'm gonna have to give this to Hiryu as his Gadgets are way more advanced as whilst Hiryu also has climbing tools his boots allow him to climb on surfaces easily without the need for his Climb Sickle. Looking at the other stuff Hiryu has way more impressive stuff such as the Blue Dragon which allows Hiryu to recover and even trap Joe in the Blue Dragon however its likely that Joe could use the Supercomputer as he was able to Hack the Zeed computers in seconds with that he could make his way back. Whilst Joe has the answer to being trapped in the Blue Dragon he doesn't have the answer to Hiryu's Plasma Capacitors which if infused with the Ice abilities he can freeze Joe whilst dashing through him. Hiryu's option D is rendered useless as most if not all of his projectiles are non-energy based meaning he can't track him.

Weapons

Lets get main Weapons out of the way Hiryu's Cypher is way better than Oborozuki and its Dark Variant as they both have no resistance to the enhanched cutting ability of the Cypher meaning that these weapons after a couple of strikes are gone. However most of Hiryu's Elemental and Energy attacks are also negated by the Oborozuki's ability to deflect projectiles making stuff such as Option A, Spark, Fire and the Plasma arrow useless. Joe of course has few trump cards as well his smoke bombs can render Hiryu's enhanched visions useless and his blowpipe has also exactly what he needs to take Hiryu down as other Striders such as Kain were taken down by a Tranquilizer.

Support

Both Hiryu and Joe have their support as in their companions. Hiryu has his options B and C and Joe has his Horse and Yamato and to put it simply the Horse is useless in combat so its either getting bombed or mauled to death which leaves Yamato all by himself and even putting him up against one of the options is enough to take down Yamato.

Seeing as both have counters against eachothers arsenals this and both have ways to take down eachother Weapons would be a tie however due to supperior support and Gadgets this Category will go to Strider Hiryu.

Hax and Abilities

Both of them share a handful of abilities such as Martial Arts Mastery, Enhanched Senses, Elemental Manipulation and Duplication however we went over how Joe has a counter to Hiryu's Elemental Attacks and Enhanched Eyesight however there is some Abilities to which Joe has no answer such as Invincibility and Duplication while yes Joe has the number advantage with him creating 16 Duplicates whilst Hiryu is capable of making 2 issue is time. Hiryu is capable of holding his 2 Duplicates for 15 seconds whilst Joe can use his clones for a whopping 3 seconds. Aside from their shared abilities Joe can blind Hiryu with his Light Ninjuntsu and has better healing due to his Amulets allowing him to heal with every hit along with Shisui Joe healing is supperior to Hiryu's and Joe has the Water Ninpo allowing him to utilize it against Hiryu especially against Electric attacks however it can only be used 5 times before he has to recharge the Ninpo Cells. This Category will go to Hiryu due to one reason which is Invincibility it mostly renders most of Joe's arsenal useless besides some stuff which would only stall Hiryu. Joe's best option here is to stall Hiryu long enough till his Invinicibility wears off and Hiryu has more options to take down Joe excluding making himself Invincible he can also freeze Joe which Joe has no defense or resitance against.

Whilst Joe was able to take down some of the most dangerous organizations and shown himself worthy of the title of "Super Shinobi" against Special A-Rank Strider he was just leagues behind.
