What will be used for both is the normal Canon so for Goku The Original Dragon Ball both Manga and Anime and everything that is considered canon so no Movies. For Classic Sonic we'll use every Game before Sonic Adventure and which is Canon.

Champion of the 23rd Budokai World Martial Arts Tournament


Born on Planet Vegeta Kakarot was sent to Earth by his Parents Bardock and Gine to survive the destruction of their Homeworld once Kakarot landed on Earth he was found by an Martial Arts Master named Gohan. Gohan finding Kakarot decided to adopts him and names him Goku however Goku was a rowdy kid throwing tantrums and bitting and throwing stuff but this would one day change whilst Gohan would go for a walk along the Mountain side whilst carrying Goku in a basket and Goku would try and reach for something to eat from a tree but would fall down a waterfall and hit his Head which made him the opposite of what he was before he was nice and caring Gohan would start to train Goku in Martial Arts. One night
during a Full Moon Goku would transform into a Giant Ape and unknownwingly kill his Granpa Gohan.

After Grandpa Gohans death Goku would live alone until one day he would meet a Girl named Bulma who was looking for the Dragon Balls which were 7 legendary artifacts which if collected could grant you a wish Bulma would let Goku join her in her quest to find the rest of the Dragon Balls this would lead them to the House of the Turtle Hermit also known as Master Roshi who he started training with as Roshi knew Goku's Grandfather Gohan. This is where Goku would meet Krillin a monk who came to train under Master Roshi together they would train until they were ready for World Martial Arts Tournament. After the losing the Tournament to Jackie Chun he would continue to train for next years tournament whilst training he would encounter the Red Ribbon Army which was a criminal orginazation which was more powerfull than the Military Goku would infiltrate their headquarters to stop their plans from using the Dragon Balls for world domination (Imagine being a criminal orginazation being feared by everyone including the Military and some kid on a flying cloud who doesn't know how old he is comes in and destroys your entire HQ by himself)

After a year had passed he would participate in the next tournament but he would lose to the top student of the rival school of the Turtle Hermit School Tien however after the fight Goku would look for Krillin only to find him dead Goku filled with rage would follow Krillins murderer who turned out to be one of Demon King Piccolo's minions he would be defeated by Tambourine but after recovering he would go back and defeat him and avenge Krillin however sensing his children being killed drew the attention of Demon King Piccolo who would look for Goku and fight him. Goku was overwhelmed by Piccolo and nearly die against him. After nearly dying to Piccolo he would end up go and and climb Korins tower to train with Korin. After training with Korin he would fight against Piccolo again and this time come out victorious after saving the world of Piccolo's tryrany he would be told to go the Kami's Lookout by Korin where he would be trained by Kami and his assistant Mr.Popo after arriving he would train for 3 years until the next Tournament. In said Tournament he would fight the son of King Piccolo and finally achieve his dream and win the World Martial Arts Tournament after winning he would lay low with a Girl he meet as a Kid named Chi Chi and marry her.

The Fastest Thing Alive

Born on June 23rd on Christmas Island he would travel the world for Adventure and find the evil scientist Dr Ivo Robotnik also named Dr.Eggman terrorizing the inhabitants of South Island and look for the Chaos Emeralds but Sonic would foil his plans by freeing the Inhabitants from his Tyrany and getting the Emeralds before Robotnik could from there on he would also ruin his plans from getting the Time Stones to conquer Spacetime and alongside saved a young girl named Amy. After hearing of Robotniks new plans he would rush to stop him however he would be accopanied by a two tailed Fox called Miles Tails Prower who would become his best friend. After destroying the Death Egg a space station which was built by Robotnik it would crash on Angel Island and when he went to the Island to inspect it he would be attacked by Knuckles the Echidna who was fooled by Robotnik that Sonic and Tails stole the emeralds from him and were coming to get the Master Emerald. After reaching Knuckles in Hidden Palace where the Master Emerald was being held they would fight and Sonic would win their fight however it would be intrrupted by Robotnik stealing the Emerald for himself realizing Knuckles was stabbed in the back he would ally himself with Sonic and Tails and help them to stop Robotnik.

Whilst going through Green Hill Zone he would see a Giant Monster called the Time Eater who would create a portal to the future and suck up Tails and Sonic in to the a place called White Space where he would meet his Future self he would help his future self restore his Timeline and defeat the Time Eater who was created by Future and Past Eggman.

On Angel Island Tails would pick up an strange energy coming the Island which they would look into only to find Eggman's new troup called the Hard Boiled Heavies who were looking for an gem called the Phantom Ruby before Sonic could do anything against them they would be teleported to Green Hill zone where they would fight against Eggman who takes the Phantom Ruby for himself so to take over the world but his Hard Boiled Heavies would turn against him and The Leader Heavy King would try to take Phantom Ruby for himself this would lead to a fight between Eggman, Heavy King and Super Sonic for the Phantom Ruby. After their fight The Phantom Ruby would use its power and create a portal which sucks Sonic into it bringing him into the future where helps out his future self in defeating future Eggman to take over the world.

Arsenals

Flying Nimbus


Flying Nimbus/Kinto'un is a yellow cloud that Goku uses to fly around it was given to him by Master Roshi after saving his Turtle. It can only be writen by those with those who possess an pure heart it requires no energy to use unlike later in the series where anyone using KI can fly.

Power Pole


Power Pole/Nyoibō is a magical staff that can extend its length to ridiclious lengths. Gifted to him by Granpa Gohan as a kid which he used eversince. Its purpose is to climb from Korin's Tower to The Lookout. The Power Pole was once used by Goku to travel from Earth to the Moon which is 363,300 KM.

Senzu Beans


Senzu Beans are magical beans that can be eaten to recover stamina and heal injuries such as cuts, bruises, dislocated or broken bones. Future Gohan even implies that it can heal lost Limbs and it can heal someone despite them being unconscious like when Yamcha got Impaled by Dr. Gero and Krillin gave him one. Goku was given a bunch of Senzu Beans by Korin after begining his training to keep him feed.

Rings



Whilst it may not look like much these Rings are not just for Sonic to collect and wear these Rings are shown to be a energy source for their Super forms. They can keep up to 999.

Chaos Emeralds

The Seven Chaos Emeralds they are Magical Gemstones which posses Chaos energy which can be used to transform into their Super Form or to use each of their special abilities.

Super Emeralds


The Super Emeralds are enhanched versions of Chaos Emeralds which are located in the Hidden Palace where its guarded by Knuckles the Echidna. However these Gems are currently residing in another dimension. They are primarly used to transform into Hyper forms however there are only 2 known people who achieved set form these being Sonic & Knuckles & Knuckles & Knuckles.

Kid Goku
Once exposed to a Full Moon Goku will transfrom into a Great Ape which makes Goku a mindless beast attacking anything in its way it makes Goku 10 times stronger and faster and can only be turned back to Normal after cutting his Tail off, destroying the Moon or survive the night until the sun comes up.

Classic Sonic

Super Sonic

After collecting the 7 Chaos Emerald Sonic can turn into Super Sonic which makes him Invulnerable and he can fly and he gains alot of other abilities the form is maintained with rings so if he runs out he will turn back into his normal state.

Hyper Sonic

A upgraded version of Super Sonic which is obtained by collecting the Super Emeralds which now reside in another universe.

Kid Goku

Enhanched Senses


Goku has shown being capable of sniffing out objects with his nose. He can also see further than a average human such as the time he saw Roshi on the Turtle before Bulma could could also feel enemies attacks through the air.

Martial Arts Mastery


Goku was trained in Martial Arts by his Grandpa Gohan and Roshi who trained him in his own Martial art called Kame style he is also been taught Karate he has also fight other Martial Artist such as Nam and even a mysterious guy called Jackie Chun.

Ki Manipulation


Ki is a energy that everyone in Dragon Ball posseses which grants them many abilities depending on how much they have mastered it.

Flight


Goku can fly by either using the flying nimbus or as seen in the image above with his Tails.

Power Mimicry


Goku could use the Kamehameha after seeing it once which took Roshi decades to learn.

Goku has learnt to create afterimages.

While Goku has shown being an amazing figther being able to defeat demons and superhumans he still can give into his anger and blindly go after his enemies like when Krillin was killed by Tambourine he got beat and had to train to defeat him to achieve his great ape form he needs a full moon whilst later in the series this isn't a issue as characters such as Vegeta just create one he isn't on that level yet as a Great Ape while he gets stronger and faster he becomes animalistic losing control.

Classic Sonic 
 

Whilst Sonic is one of the strongest warriors he still got flaws he can't swim meaning if he is in water he has a limited time to get out or he'll drown. He can't mentain his Super and Hyper form without rings meaning if he doesn't have any left he will turn back into his normal form. He also can't use his emerald abilities more than once so if he uses them once that ability can't be used unless he find a checkpoint.

Verdict


Strength
This one is easy Goku's best feat is defeating Demon King Piccolo who could kill shenron who created a new Moon coming out 1.27 Quettatons add the Ozaru multiplier we get 12.7 Quettatons of TNT however compare that to Sonic he could defeat machines which can use the power of an Chaos Emerald which can shift a continent coming out to 0.47 Foe and this is base sonic if we take in Super or Hyper he could defeat Time Eater which could devour a Universe making Sonic Uni in his strongest form.

Speed

Suprisingly Goku is no slouch being able to move faster than Tien's Solar Flare making him 21.21 times faster than light however compared to Sonic this isn't imprresive at all yeah if we take Metal flying from Little Planet and Vector dodging lasers to Earth's Low-ball there are near relative as Yamcha could dodge a Laser however that feat is questionable if its a Laser and even then Sonic is 1.06 -1.93 times faster which makes Sonic faster in base Goku can be faster with Ozaru however this is not mentioning High-end feats for Sonic in which case Sonic is faster as he can be anywhere from 2573- 146 Quadrillion times FTL which makes him way faster even in base.

Hax

This one isn't close as Goku's best hax are Analytical Prediction, Power Mimicry, Light Manipulation and Blessed/Probability Manipulation however this isn't close Sonic can replenish his Stamina, be Invincible, turn Goku into rings and come back alive so yeah there's no arguing Sonic gets Hax. However for Hax which they share Goku has shown it better for example Goku managed to mimic the Kamehameha fully in his first attempt whilst Sonic couldn't replicate the Homing Attack he fell down after trying it.


Experience

Sonic has fought Eggman numerous times either his Mechs or Mechanical versions of himself however his Adventure's take place anywhere between days to month whilst Goku has numerous Adventure's with similiar circumstances he has fought a Doppelganger of himself whilst training with Popo, he has fought Mechs and numerous times his training and events take place anywhere from days to months so well give this point to both as both have fought against similiar circumstances
